COLVILLE COVERED BRIDGE - COLVILLE, KENTUCKY











                                                                                        SOUTH FORK LICKING RIVER

                                                                                                          BUILT - 1877

Length - 124'.... Located 3 miles south of Colville on Kentucky Rt. 3118. Built by Jacob Bower. Restored by Louis Bower (Jacob Bower's son) in 1913, and raised to present height by Louis's son in 1937. Rehabilitated in 1972 after major damage from overloaded truck. Completely reconstructed in 2000 after flood damage. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 30, 1974. Open to through traffic. GRANGE CITY COVERED BRIDGE - GRANGE CITY, KENTUCKY

Length - 94'... Located approximately 1 1/2 miles northeast of Grange City, just off of Kentucky Rt.111. Usage was discontinued in 1968 when modern bridge was constructed. Bridge was constructed by same contractor who constructed the Ringos Mill bridge. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1976. Closed to through traffic. RINGOS MILL COVERED BRIDGE - HILLSBORO, KENTUCKY

Length - 90'... Approximate 4 miles southeast of Hillsboro off of Kentucky Rt. 158 between Vise and Rawlings Rd. Named for a grist mill that was 50 yds downstream. Built by same contractor as the one who constructed the Hillsboro-Grange City Covered Bridge that sits several miles down on Fox Creek. Bridge bypassed in 1968 by new bridge. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on  March 26, 1976. Closed to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Multiple Kingpost Through Truss.

GODDARD/WHITE COVERED BRIDGE - GODDARD, KENTUCKY

Length - 63'...   The Goddard bridge is located just off of Kentucky Rt-32 on Covered Bridge Rd, about 8 miles south of  Flemingsburg. Although the actual date of construction is unknown, it is built on the lattice design of Ithiel Town. The bridge was built by Joseph Goddard. Previous restorations in 1910 by Louis Bower and again in 1968 by his son, Louis Stockton Bower. Originally located about one mile south of Goddard, the bridge was moved to its present location in 1933 when Highway 32 was rebuilt. Steel braces sunk into the creek near the abutments provide additional support for the span.The bridge is in regular use and is open to traffic under 4 tons. The bridge was restored in 1968 with the replacement of some lateral bracing, siding, roofing and the wooden pins or trunnels used as fasteners instead of nails. Bridge restored in 2006. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on August 22, 1975. Truss Type - Covered Timber Town Lattice Through Truss.

HELMICK MILL COVERED BRIDGE - MCCONNELLSVILLE, OHIO

Length - 74' ... SW of Eagleport, Deerfield Township. OH669 W. 2.2 miles from jct with OH669/River Rd. in Eagleport, S. on Bush Rd. (TR201) 1.7 miles, left on Helmick Rd. (TR269) 50' to the bridge. Built by Samuel Price who was paid $872. Rehabilitated in 1991.Restored 2008. Posted on the National Register of Historic Places on February 5, 1999. Length - 64' ... NNW of Barlow, Barlow Township. OH339 N. 0.25 miles from jct with OH550 in Barlow, W. (curves N.) on Barlow Rd. 2.4 miles to the bridge. Built by E. B. Henderson. Rehabilitated in 1998. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on October 3, 2012. Open to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Multiple Kingpost Through Truss.
