BARTRAM/GOSHEN COVERED BRIDGE - NEWTON SQUARE, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1860

Length - 80' ... W. of Newtown Square, Willistown Township. PA3 (Chester Pike) W. 0.8 miles from jct with PA252 (Newtown St. Rd.) in Newtown Square, continue W. (curves N.) on Boot Rd. 1.2 miles, W. on Goshen Rd. 250' to the bridge on the S. side of the road. Built by Ferdinand Wood at a cost of $1133. It is named for Mordecai Bartram, an adjacent landowner. Bridge closed to traffic in 1941. Rehabilitated in the late 1960s, and again in 1995. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980. Closed to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Single Span, Double Burr Arch Through Truss.

KNOX/VALLEY FORGE COVERED BRIDGE - VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1865

Length - 67' ... In Valley Forge National Park SE of Valley Forge, Tredyffrin Township. Valley Creek Rd. S. 1.0 miles from jct with PA23 in Valley Forge, W. on Yellow Springs Rd. 100 yds to the bridge. Built by Robert R ussell at a cost of $1179. Completely restored in the summer 1996. Restored 2016. Presently the bridge is temporarily closed due to damage caused by flood damage from the Tropical Storm Ida on 9/1/2021. Truss Type - Covered Double Burr Arch with added steel stringer rods.

RAPPS DAM COVERED BRIDGE - PHOENIXVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1866

Length - 106' ... W. of Phoenixville, East Pikeland Township. PA23 NW 0.9 miles from jct with PA113 in Phoenixville, SW on Rapps Dam Rd. 0.3 miles to the bridge. Built by Benjamin F. Hartman. Named for George Rapp, who operated the nearby mill, known as Snyder's Mill.  Rehabilitated in 2011, and 2014 for semi-truck damage. Closed 04-2014 due to semi-truck ripping out the support beams. Rehabilitated in 1999 for flood damage. Bridge presently closed due to another oversized vehicle damage in July 2021, and then more damage by flooding waters of Tropical Storm Ida  on 9/1/2021. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on June 18, 1973. Temporarily closed to traffic. Truss Type - Covered Single Span, Double Burr Arch with addition to steel hanger rods.

SNYDER MILL
BUILT - 1780
 
Snyder Mill was operated by George Rapp during the time the Rapp Dam covered bridge was being built. The bridge provided access to the mill.
