BUILT - 1832

Length - 130' ... NNE of Yellow House, Oley Township. Covered Bridge Rd. N. 2.5 miles from jct with PA662 in Yellow House, E. on Church Rd. 0.25 miles, N. on Spangsville Rd. 0.2 miles to the bridge. Rehabilitated in 1957 and 1971. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1981. Open to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Burr Arch Through Truss.

GRIESEMER-BROWN MILL COMPLEX
BUILT -  1843

The gristmill was built by Abraham Griesemer in 1843. It was sold to George Brown in 1871 by Samuel Griesemer, Abraham's son. George Brown operated the mill until 1889 when he retired and his son Frank M. Brown assumed operation of the mill. One year later, Frank installed a roller mill which increased flour output to one barrel per hour. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 8, 1990.

Length - 132' ... NW of Orefield, North Whitehall Township. Kernsville Rd. W. 1.0 miles from jct with PA309 in Orefield, N. (curves W. & back N.) on Jordan Rd. 1.9 miles, E. on Old Packhouse Rd. 0.2 miles to the bridge. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980. Truss Type - Covered Burr Arch Through Truss.

WERTZ'S COVERED BRIDGE - READING, PENNSYLVANIA


















 TULPEHOCKEN CREEK
BERKS COUNTY
BUILT - 1867

Length - 218' ...NW of Reading, Bern/Spring Townships. PA183 N. (curves NW) 4.0 miles from jct with US422 in Reading, S. on Red Bridge Rd. 0.6 miles to the bridge. Built by Amandas Kneer at a cost of $7,650. Bridge was named after a very prominent mill that sat .3 mile downstream. Bridge rehabilitated in 1959 and was bypassed the same year; the bridge was then closed to through traffic. Restored in 1984. Bridge is the longest one span covered bridge in Pennsylvania. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 17, 1978. Closed to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered High Double Burr Arch Through Truss.
