Bridge is known for being a haunted through the years, as strange sightings and happenings have occurred. During original road construction for the bridge, workers found a burial mound during their work. The limestone-block-lined tomb contained skeletal remains and some Native American items belonging to the Hopewell Culture. The bridge builders of the 1850s had no real concern for the historical significance of their find and simply built the bridge over part of the burial mound. This was the prior bridge that was built on this location. There is also a local history of a man drowning in the flooded ford that preceded this bridge location. Supposedly one Cleveland-area couple conducted several investigations at the bridge and at nearby burial places and detected supernatural activity on several occasions, documenting their findings in photos and audio tape.
