HASSENPLUG COVERED BRIDGE - MIFFLINBURG, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1825

Length - 70' ....In Mifflinburg. 4th St. N. 0.4 miles from jct with PA45 in Mifflinburg to the bridge. It was named for the Hassenplug family, who lived in the brick house nearby. Rehabilitated in 1959 at which time the wooden deck was replaced with steel grating and a pier was added to allow for heavier traffic. The bridge is one of the two oldest covered bridges in the country. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on February 8, 1980. Open to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Burr Arch through Truss.
