PINETOWN/NOLT'S POINT MILL COVERED BRIDGE - LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1867

Length - 133' .... NE of Lancaster. PA272 NNE 4.1 miles from jct with US30 on the N. side of Lancaster, SE on Creek Rd. 0.3 miles, jog N. on Pinetown (Butter) Rd., E. on Bridge Rd. & the bridge. Also known as Bushong's Mill Covered Bridge. Built by Elias McMellen at a cost of $4500. Restored in 1974 after having floated downstream during Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972. At that time, to prevent damage to future flooding, they raised the bridge to 17'6" above the average water line. Restored in 2013 after having been closed for repairs due to flood damage from Tropical Depression Lee during Summer of 2011. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1980. Open to through traffic. Truss Type -  Covered Single Span, Double Burr Arch Truss with the addition of steel hanger rods.
