EAST & WEST PADEN COVERED BRIDGES -ORANGEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA

Lengths - West - 103',  East - 79'....NE of Orangeville, Fishing Creek Township. PA487 NE 4.0 miles from jct with PA93 in Orangeville, E. (curves SE) on Winding Rd. (SR1020) 0.3 miles to the bridge on the W. side of the road. East Paden Built by W. C. Pennington, the original cost for both bridge was $720. Bridges were named after John Paden who operated a nearby sawmill.  The original builder opted to build two bridges off of each side of a middle bridge pier instead of building one bridge having a very large span, or connecting  two spans with a bridge pier.  The original West Paden Bridge was washed away by flood waters in June 2006, and the replica was  built by the Lycoming Supply Company from Williamsport in 2008. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1979. Closed to motor traffic. Truss Type - West - Covered Burr Arch Through Truss, East - Queenpost Through Truss.
