BAUMGARDNER'S MILL COVERED BRIDGE - WILLOW STREET, PENNSYLVANIA

BUILT - 1860

Length - 116' .... S-SE of Willow Street, S. on Rt.-272, R. Baumgardner Rd. to approx.1 mile to L. on Rawlinsville Rd. S. Approx 2 miles to L. on Creek Rd. just before crossing bridge. W. till L. on Byerland Church Rd., .1 mile S. to bridge. Built by Davis Kitch at a cost of $1284. In 1987 the bridge was restored after it was damaged in a flood the previous year. During the restoration process, which cost $200,000, the bridge was raised 4' and lengthened by 9' to protect it from damage in potential future flooding. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1980. Open to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Single Span, Double Burr Arch with the addition of steel hangar rods.
