 WEST BRANCH OF OCTORARO CREEK
LANCASTER COUNTY
BUILT - 1884

Length - 113' ... SSW of Kirkwood, Colerain Township. Maple Shade Rd. W. 1.0 miles from jct with PA472 in Kirkwood, S. on Noble Rd. 0.7 miles, continue S. on White Rock Rd. 1.2 miles to the bridge. Built by Elias McMellen at a cost of $2495. The original bridge at this location was built in 1847 and was destroyed and swept away early in 1884. This bridge was posted to the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980. Open to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Single Span, Double Burr Arch with addition of steel hanger rods.
