MULL COVERED BRIDGE - FREEMONT, OHIO























EAST BRANCH WOLF CREEK
SANDUSKY COUNTY
BUILT - 1851

Length - 100' .... SSW of Fremont, Ballville Township. OH53 S. 5.5 miles from jct with US6 on the W. side of Fremont, W. on CR9 0.9 miles to the bridge on the S. side of the road. Built by the Henry Mull Family. Henry (Amos) owned a nearby sawmill, and decided to build a bridge to better help his customers have access to his mill. Amos petitioned the Sandusky County Commissioners for aid in building a bridge; the commissioners agreed to grant $75 toward the construction of a covered bridge, and Mull agreed to provide the lumber needed to build the bridge. The bridge originally was built as a single-span structure; at an unknown later date, a concrete support was added in the middle, converting it into a two-span bridge. Renovated 1990, and 2015. Bypassed in 1962. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1974. Bridge closed to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Two Wooden Span Town Lattice Through Truss Truss.

BUILT - 1877

Length - 96' .... NNE of Xenia, Xenia Township. US42 NE 1.7 miles from jct with US35 in Xenia, N. (curves E.) on Stevenson Rd. 2.3 miles to the bridge on the N. side of the road. Built by the Smith Bridge Company of Tipp City, Ohio, at a cost of $990. Rebuilt in 2015. Closed to motor traffic in 2003, then bypassed in 2004. Eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Truss Type - Covered Smith Through Truss.

BUILT - 1876

Length - 56' .... NE of Sereno. Sereno Hollow Rd. NE 4.3 miles from jct with PA42 just N. of Sereno, S. on Ardens Hill Rd. 0.1 miles to the bridge. Built by William L. Manning for $239. Named for Jud Christian a nearby farmer and lumberman. Bridge was rehabilitated in 1996. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1979. Open to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Queenpost Through Truss.
