EAST & WEST PADEN COVERED BRIDGES -ORANGEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA

      WEST PADEN - BUILT - 2008

Lengths - West - 103',  East - 79'....NE of Orangeville, Fishing Creek Township. PA487 NE 4.0 miles from jct with PA93 in Orangeville, E. (curves SE) on Winding Rd. (SR1020) 0.3 miles to the bridge on the W. side of the road. East Paden Built by W. C. Pennington, the original cost for both bridge was $720. Bridges were named after John Paden who operated a nearby sawmill.  The original builder opted to build two bridges off of each side of a middle bridge pier instead of building one bridge having a very large span, or connecting  two spans with a bridge pier.  The original West Paden Bridge was washed away by flood waters in June 2006, and the replica was  built by the Lycoming Supply Company from Williamsport in 2008. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1979. WANICH COVERED BRIDGE - BLOOMSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA














 
       LITTLE FISHING CREEK
      COLUMBIA COUNTY
      BUILT - 1884

Length - 99' ( Various sources state this bridge length from anywhere from 82' to 108').  NE of Bloomsburg. PA42 N. 2.2 miles from jct with I80 exit 232 just NW of Bloomsburg, E. on Covered Bridge Dr. 0.2 miles to the bridge. Built by George Russel Jr. at a cost of $500. The bridge was named after John Wanich who was a farmer who resided nearby. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1979. Open to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Burr Arch Through Truss.

RUPERT COVERED BRIDGE - BLOOMSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA


















 
      FISHING CREEK
     COLUMBIA COUNTY
     BUILT - 1847

Length - 185' .... SW of Bloomsburg, Montour Township. PA42 S. 0.4 miles from jct with US11 on the W. side of Bloomsburg, E. & immediate W. on Jackson St. 0.2 miles, E. on Train St. 0.1 miles, N. on TR409 200' to the bridge. The bridge was built by Jesse W. Beard at a cost of $1637.00. It was named after the nearby village which was settled by Leonard Rupert in 1788.  Bridge was rehabilitated in 2000-2001 at which time was strengthened with I-Beams, and two piers were added for additional support, the original bridge was single span. Bridge was posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1979. Open to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Burr Arch Through Truss.
