PIKE FORK MCELROY CREEK
DODDRIDGE COUNTY
BUILT - 1889

Length - 42' ... NNW of Salem, Beech Township. WV23 N. 10.1 miles from jct with US50 just N. of Salem, E. on Pike Fork 200' to the bridge on the S. side of the road. Built by John Ash and S.H. Smith at a cost of $230. The masons were T.C. Ancell and E. Underwood who charged $976.54 for all abutments. Rehabilitated in 1982, and majorly restored in 2003. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1983. Bypassed in 1940, now closed to motor traffic. Truss Type - Covered Long Through Truss Variant.

WALKERSVILLE COVERED BRIDGE - WALKERSVILLE, WEST VIRGINIA

BUILT - 1903

Length - 39' ... S. of Walkersville. Walkersville Rd. (CR44/5) S. 0.9 miles from jct with Crane Camp Rd. (CR44/7) in Walkersville to the bridge on the E. side of the road. Built by John G. Sprigg at a cost of $567. Bridge was partly renovated in 1984, and extensively rehabilitated which included the replacement of some deteriorated structural members and the installment of new wooden siding in 2003-2004. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on June 4, 1981. Open to through traffic. Truss Type - Covered Queenpost Through Truss.

LOCUST CREEK COVERED BRIDGE - HILLSBORO, WEST VIRGINIA

BUILT - 1904

Length- 114' .... SW of Hillsboro, Little Levels Township. US219 SW 2.1 miles from jct with Main St. in Hillsboro, S. on Locust Creek Rd. (CR20) 3.1 miles, W. on Denmar Rd. (CR31) 200' to the bridge. Built by W.M . Irvine. The original bridge in this location was built in 1870 by R.N. Bruce. The bridge utilized a rare Warren Double Intersection Truss. This bridge was replaced in 1888. In 1904 this bridge was rebuilt, interior supports, trusses, side paneling and roof were replaced during the reconstruction. During this construction the new truss was of the Smith Through Truss Design. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on June 4, 1981. Closed to motor traffic.
